Raised in Nablus between her grandmother's looms and books on Italian tailoring, Layla designs pieces that hold her two languages together: tatreez embroidery and couture cut. Selected by Jamal Taslaq for the programme's first run.

Jamal followed the project from the first sketch to the choice of fabrics, opening his Rome atelier to Layla to fine-tune the cut.

The mentor selects, guides and endorses — the signature stays with the designer.

East and West

Her language starts from tatreez — traditional Palestinian embroidery, geometries handed down from mother to daughter — and grafts it onto Italian tailored volumes. Every piece carries an original motif, hand-drawn and embroidered in Nablus.
